Before And After Photos
This patient is mine. She had a previous breast augmentation years ago and she developed an autoimmune condition and she was concerned that her implants may be the cause. She wanted her breast implants taken out as well as the implant capsules.
I have addressed this issue before on my website. There is no “scientific” evidence that implants are the cause of medical disorders. Women are at a much higher risk of developing connective tissue disorders than men. Having any medical condition isn’t fun. Dealing with these issues can consume you. At times patients simply want the implants out even though they are aware of a lack of a connection to medical conditions. Removing the capsule at the same time isn’t necessary in many if not all cases. This adds complexity, cost and risk to the procedure. The decision has to be made on a case by case basis.
This patient told me that she feels a TON better and that she has no doubts that the difference is REAL. She has not been evaluated by her medical doctor so nothing can be determined from this medical perspective. I am not aware of any real scientific papers describing any miraculous recoveries from autoimmune conditions after breast implant removal. What I do know is that I am happy that this patient is happy and that she feels removal of her implants was a good thing.
Of note is the fact that I felt her breasts would “spring back” after implant removal alone and that she didn’t need a breast lift. This is a judgment made by experienced surgeons and can save you a lot of time, money and scars on your breasts so always seek out the advice of high quality, experienced surgeons.
