About Dr. Caridi
Dr. Caridi was born and raised in modest circumstances in the cosmopolitan and diverse city of Brooklyn. He walked to public schools in his neighborhood and played in the streets as if they were his backyard. His dad passed away when he was only 13 years old. He took the B train to an experimental High School, graduating in less than 3 years. University training took place at Stony Brook University on Long Island and eventually The University of Texas at Austin where he graduated with honors and received his BA in Biology. From there he moved on to The University of Texas Medical School at Houston and his internship, residency and fellowship at the Mount Sinai Hospital System in Manhattan. As you can see, Dr. Caridi spent most of his time in school.
After completing his medical training he took up an opportunity to join a large group practice in the Chicago suburbs. He spent 8 years servicing many hospitals and learned quite a bit about trauma, hand, reconstructive and plastic surgery. A change in scenery and weather then prompted a move to his beloved Austin, Texas where he started the Austin plastic surgery practice Westlake Plastic Surgery with a focus on 100% cosmetic surgery. Around 2010, Dr. Caridi expanded his practice focus by starting the Austin Gynecomastia Center which is one of the world’s premier treatment centers for gynecomastia surgery.
Plastic surgery is not simply about changing appearance. It is about making one of life's most personal decisions with confidence.
Every day, patients place an extraordinary amount of trust in me and my team. They come to us with insecurities they may have carried for years, uncertainty created by conflicting information online, and understandable concerns about making the right decision. Our responsibility extends far beyond performing an operation. It begins with listening.
I believe that an informed patient makes the best decisions. That is why education has always been at the heart of my practice. Whether through consultations, educational videos, published research, or the information throughout this website, my goal is not to persuade anyone to have surgery. My goal is to provide honest, thoughtful guidance so you can decide what is right for you—even if that means deciding not to proceed.
That philosophy influences everything we do. You will never be encouraged to undergo a procedure that I do not believe is in your best interest. If I think waiting, losing weight, choosing a different operation, or avoiding surgery altogether is the better choice, I will tell you. Trust is earned through honesty, not salesmanship.
Exceptional care is also a team effort. From your first phone call through recovery, every member of my staff shares the same commitment to treating patients with professionalism, compassion, and respect. Many patients tell us that they remember how they were cared for just as vividly as they remember their surgical results. To me, that is one of the highest compliments a practice can receive.
Of course, beautiful results matter. They are the product of decades of experience, careful planning, and meticulous surgical technique. But the true measure of success is something far more personal. It is the confidence to wear the clothes you've always avoided. The freedom to stop thinking about a part of your body that has quietly burdened you for years. The relief of knowing you made the right decision.
My hope is that every patient leaves not only looking better, but feeling informed, respected, and confident that they received the care they deserved.
