This is a 37 year old mother of two, 5’7″ and 155 pounds, who was interested in a “mommy makeover“. She simply didn’t have the figure she used to have after kids. Her breasts are ptotic and asymmetrical with enlarged areolas. Her abdominal fascia is stretched with a significant bulge evident. She has stretch marks on her lower abdomen and a very low scar on her abdomen from her Cesarean sections. She has some loose skin, particularly noticeable when she bends over.
She is seen here after a bilateral breast lift or mastopexy. I reduced some tissue on the right larger breast so that the results will be more symmetrical. She also had some liposuction of her abdomen, flanks and hips. I removed only 1500cc of fat because she really didn’t have a lot to begin with. She had a full abdominoplasty with skin removal on the lower abdomen and complete fascial tightening to flatten her abdomen.
- All three procedures were performed at the same time. This is not always possible for safety reasons. Sometimes the plan needs to be different and the procedures may need to be “staged,” or spread over several procedures at different times. This is an important point to consider as it is not necessarily in your best interest to tell your surgeon that you would like all the procedures to be performed at once – this can put you at risk for complications and make for a difficult recovery.
- We had talked about using a breast implant for superior fullness and an enhanced breast shape, but in the end, she wasn’t interested in breast implants. What is very surprising to me is how wonderful her breasts look without an implant! She told me that she wears an amazingly supportive bra religiously, so I think that this has a lot to do with her fantastic outcome. This is yet another reminder of the value of a great bra to keep your breasts looking their best.
- Her abdominoplasty worked well. Her abdomen is flat, and there is no skin excess. The scar is flat but is also red. This takes about a year or two to look more skin colored and less noticeable. She never had any concerns about the abdominal scar before or after her procedure.
- The liposuction is standard fare. In her case, it worked to narrow her waist and improve the contour of her figure. The combination of a breast enhancement, liposuction and abdominoplasty is typical of a “motherhood makeover,” but obviously this varies from patient to patient.
