Men, Women, And Everyone In Between – Diversity In Plastic Surgery

diversity in plastic surgery

I take great pride in having a practice that celebrates the diversity in plastic surgery. Because of this diversity, I learn just as much from my patients as they do from me. I’ve seen men, women, and everyone in between. With every person that steps through my door, I become that much better at relating with the next.

One of the more common patient profiles I see is that of undiagnosed gynecomastia. A young man recently came to my office who was interested in gynecomastia surgery to remove the female-like breasts that he had developed. You can imagine how humiliating this can be for those who suffer from it. The Austin Gynecomastia Center is one of the most popular gynecomastia facilities anywhere on the planet.

That day, I also met a transgender male to female person who was interested in breast implants. She was very excited about this final step in her long-wrought, hormone-filled journey to become the woman that she wanted to become. I’m pleased to say the transition has been progressing quite well.

A young mom also came in, interested in a breast augmentation after her breasts had deflated with pregnancy. She wanted to get her breasts back to where they used to be.

If those patients aren’t enough for you, another woman came to me, looking to surgically enhance her body after dramatically losing 70 pounds. She was in a relationship with another woman and wanted to improve the appearance of her breasts, which were very large and low-hanging. After discussing the traditional options I usual offer, like my signature Breast Reduction with Augmentation procedure, it soon became clear to me that she was looking for a more androgynous (sexually ambiguous) result.

I don’t know about you, but I was totally befuddled after that day: guys, girls, breasts going in, breasts going out. Thinking about this diversity in plastic surgery, all of these patients’ demands reveal just how innately human it is to have varying and changing physical desires. And no matter how complicated life becomes, I have a mission, and will always focus on what is best for my patients.
