Patient Details
This is a 34 year old woman who is 5’7″ and 140 pounds who was interested in a breast revision. She complained that she has some breast asymmetries. On my examination, her breasts looked quite good overall with only minor asymmetries.
She is seen here after a breast revision procedure with the removal of her saline implants (300cc implants) and the replacement with smooth round high profile silicone implants placed through an incision at the bottom of the breast. I adjusted the pockets internally to get a better breast symmetry. I also found that the muscle on the left side was not completely released along the breast fold as compared to the right side and that is why this implant sat up higher and the nipple was lower.
Her breasts are certainly fuller with the larger volume with more cleavage evident of frontal photo. There is improved symmetry and the nipple areola complexes are more symmetrical.
She told me that she can tell a very large difference between the saline and silicone implants. They feel more natural and comfortable. She is wearing a much more supportive bra now because of the bra education that we went over. She is even wearing a bra at night more often than not.
What I learned from her case is that even though she had minor complaints, I was actually able to make a pretty big improvement overall. You can imagine that my greatest concern is that she would not appreciate the differences and that she would not be happy with my efforts. It wasn’t until I was in surgery that I learned that she had an anatomical difference between the two breasts that once corrected, took care of the asymmetries.
