Gynecomastia Surgery Gallery Plastic Surgery in Austin | Patient 34

Patient Details

This patient is only 1 month from a secondary gynecomastia treatment surgery. His previous work was obviously insufficient in terms of his goals of removal of his gynecomastia tissue and masculine contouring of his chest. His masses were impressive and mostly glandular. At the time we took these early photos he suspected he had fluid in his chest. My nurse told me he had a squishy feeling on his right side that I didn’t appreciate. I told her to inject some steroids to help with the scarring that was developing at this stage. She did, and a few minutes later came back to me with the syringe of fluid that she aspirated from his right chest.

Lessons learned:

  1. I can be wrong.
  2. If a patient tells us that fluid is present is often is.
  3. Any squishy feeling is usually associated with fluid/scar formation.

The patient is uber happy. He is just disappointed that he had spent so much money on his first unsuccessful treatment. I told him this is “water under the bridge” and at least his chest can be corrected/made whole with another treatment. It’s a happy ending for sure. I like it that way.
