This nose is all about small changes that when combined make for a nice difference. She had a small hump and a tip that was unrefined and with some asymmetries. The goal here was to keep this simple – reduce the hump and refine the tip as best possible so it looks natural and feminine (softer of sorts).
I think we did pretty well here, but not perfect. In these pictures you can appreciate that her nose appears smaller. The hump is gone and she has a nice slight feminine curve to her bridge now. Her tip is better but not perfect by some measures. The overall appearance and balance to her nose is improved. Oh, and by the way, she is quite happy with her results and maybe I’m being a bit critical but I’m trying to give you my analysis.

Ultimately, if the patient is happy with what I have done this is a REALLY good thing as that is my goal with all my work. Noses tend to be more challenging in the “happiness” category for many reasons. When you have practiced as long as I have you learn to be sensitive to the issues involved in every rhinoplasty because the procedure is tricky even in the best of hands and the results are somewhat unpredictable. Add the emotional issues patients have with their nose and you can appreciate the fine line I must walk. Having said that, noses are very gratifying indeed and I am always excited to practice my art on those I am privileged to care for and who trust me.
