Like many women with breast implants, this patient simply reached a point in life where she was ready for a change. She no longer wanted the size, weight, or maintenance associated with large breast implants and desired a more natural look that better matched her lifestyle.
I removed her 560 cc smooth silicone breast implants under local anesthesia in my fully accredited in-office operating facility. The procedure took approximately 30 minutes, and she was able to return home shortly afterward. Recovery was brief and straightforward.
She is thrilled with her results. Without the implants, her breasts are naturally smaller, lighter, and perkier, and she feels more comfortable and confident in her body. Most importantly, she has absolutely no regrets about her decision.
A common misconception is that breast implant removal requires removal of the implant capsules. In her case, there was no indication whatsoever for capsule removal. She had no capsular contracture, no implant rupture, no fluid collection, and no other condition that would justify capsule excision. Removing normal capsules in this situation would have added unnecessary surgery, recovery, cost, and risk without providing any meaningful benefit.
This case demonstrates that for appropriately selected patients, breast implant removal can be a simple procedure with a smooth recovery and a highly satisfying outcome.
