Patient Details
This patient had a previous breast implantation and breast lift with anchor shaped scars. She came to my practice for implant removal without treatment of her implant capsules as she was essentially tired of them and wanted them removed. Her photos show her preoperative and at 6 weeks post operative removal of her implants one of which was ruptured. She is very relieved to no longer have breast implants and is very happy with her new breast shape and size.
This is her note on her consultation submission:
“I had a breast augmentation and lift in 2022 and I would just like to have a breast explant. No lift or anything additional. I feel that they are very heavy on my frame and it’s difficult to be as active as I normally am, I’m less worried about them looking perfect as much as I’d just really like to have them taken out in the easiest way. I’ve heard it’s possible to even have them taken out with local anesthesia for minimal recovery time…this would be very ideal if it’s possible because I have a lot of anxiety about being under full anesthesia. Very interested in the doctors thoughts and what is possible here! Thank you”
Breast implant removal may or may not include breast implant capsules very much depending on your history with breast implants and your personal desires. It is far more complex to remove breast implant capsules as it is a tedious, complex procedure with higher risk of postoperative bleeding and hematoma formation (blood collection in the breast). Drains are very commonly used for implant capsule removal. You must engage with a surgeon who is honest, well-informed, experienced and knowledgeable to provide you with worthy recommendations. Visit with several reputable surgeons if you must.
