Patient Details
This patient reached out to me for a breast augmentation alone. After consulting with her she learned more about what we can achieve with a breast augmentation alone versus what we can gain with a breast implant and breast lift/reduction combination.
Her breast anatomy isn’t “easy” for any form of procedure. This is because her skin is thick, her breasts are pointing downwards and her anatomy in general will be challenging to work with (I remind you all reading this that I have had 30 years of experience dealing with patients so I have been there before).
We agreed on the result that she most desired – more superior fullness, a wholesale change in the shape of her breasts and nipples that are higher. She wanted larger breasts to fit her figure. We talked about doing this and reducing the fat with liposuction lateral to her breasts and under her arms.
She is seen in the post-operative photos after the placement of 470 cc high profile smooth walled silicone implants were placed below the muscle. A “lift” was performed to basically change the shape of her breast tissue and to reposition the nipple-areola complex to a more ideal location. I expected she would need a lot of post-operative breast molding in order to expand the “footprint” of her breast.
It all worked out nicely. She has the shape she desires and the fullness that she never had. They are not saggy, they are larger and they work well with her figure. The take home in her case is that she required a LOT of post-operative breast molding, something few surgeons talk about but it’s all about using the breast implant to expand the skin/tissues to fundamentally change the breast shape in a desired manner.
