This patient is 4 months out from his gynecomastia treatment. He said he is very happy and that he lost 15 pounds since treatment with “diet and exercise”. He no longer has his gynecomastia and you can tell he is proud of his new chest (look at how he shows it during the post operative photos!) He has not developed any scar tissue which is the #1 post treatment issue that my patients have to contend with.
Scar tissue typically appears in the weeks to months after treatment. It shows up as a mass/fullness that wasn’t there right after treatment. It’s part of the natural healing process but in some cases it can be aggressive and needs to be managed with massage and possibly steroid injects and in rare cases with another surgery to remove it. It’s always best to be on the lookout for it and manage it so it goes away. There is no reason to panic—just know that if you develop scar tissue it will likely get firmer and more difficult to manage once established. No work no improvement. Be positive, work it daily and you will be rewarded!
