Liposuction is the removal of fat from the human body. Over the past 25 years since first becoming popular, it continues to be one of the most sought after body sculpting procedures in Austin and the rest of the country. What used to be performed solely by plastic surgeons is now offered by non plastic surgeons and medical spas. There has been a proliferation of machines and techniques, all accompanied by marketing of superior results, less pain and swelling, and a faster recovery.
As I have been professing for many years, however, there is no liposuction technique practiced in Austin that is better than any other. After all, it is the liposuction surgeon who determines the outcome, not the machine or technique. The job of the surgeon is simply to remove the right amount of fat in an even manner so the body sculpting result is smooth. All the various alternatives are only as effective as the human who is performing the liposuction.
It’s nice to hear that anesthesia isn’t needed and cost is low, but this is only a marketing tool. Not using effective anesthesia results in a painful procedure, compromised results, and often multiple procedures to achieve the goal. It’s rare to need treatment in only one area, as the human body doesn’t store fat in just one place. The “art” of liposuction requires contouring the human body so that it is proportional—all the parts have to fit just perfectly for the best result.
You should know that over HALF of the patients I see in my office for liposuction are not considered good candidates because they are overweight. Liposuction is not a solution for weight loss, nor is it suitable for those who are looking for a “jump start.” Liposuction in Austin is ideally suited for those patients who are at or near their recommended Body Mass Index (BMI) and who have a stable weight history and realistic expectations. Body sculpting is a real surgical procedure that requires the same degree of respect as any other major surgery.
