How Do You Get the “Artificial Look” After a Breast Enhancement?

balloon_girl_295Although the most common request from patients who are contemplating a breast augmentation is for the “natural look,” there are some patients who prefer the “artificial look.” To me, this means that the breast appears really round, balloon-like and stuck on — there is no equivalent derived from Mother Nature.

To be perfectly frank, it’s not that easy to create this artificial appearance and in most cases it’s not advisable. First you have to select a breast implant size that is way larger than I would typically suggest, and I would need to place a saline breast implant on top of the muscle and inflate it to a volume that is not recommended by the implant manufacturer. It helps when the patient has very little breast tissue so the end result looks like two very large balloons on your chest.

For those of you who see these patients with balloon breasts and equate this with a typical breast augmentation result, this is not the case. The vast majority of women who have had a breast augmentation simply have great looking end results that fit their figures — you wouldn’t even know they have had surgery. You might just think they are lucky.

The good thing is that women have a choice when it comes to breast enhancement. Options like implant size and shape, location above or below the muscle, smooth or textured implants offer a fair amount of room to customize the result to match a patient’s anatomy and goals. However, there are limitations to ensure that your result is safe, long lasting, beautiful and free from complications.

At Westlake Plastic Surgery, I will always strive to help you attain your goals while keeping you safe. The advice I share with you has been honed from my prior experience with thousands of patients.
